The Cornelia Crenshaw Branch Library is located on Vance Avenue next door to the King of Discount Food Mart which is at the
intersection of Vance Avenue and Lauderdale Street.
This historical library has a variety of materials and services to offer to all ages and segments of the Vance Community.
Historical Overview: The Vance Branch Library opened in 1939 and was the first Memphis Public Library African Americans

Computers 
The library has 12 computers for browsing the Internet (including email), accessing
information online, or for use with word processing etc. are available for public
use. See the Internet Use Policy and the
Computer Assistance Policy for more information.

Collections 
Crenshaw Library has a collection consisting of fiction, non-fiction, popular best sellers, talking books, a parent-teacher
section, books written by African-American authors, and reference books and magazines.

Job and Career Center 
Crenshaw Library is one of the branches in the system with a Job and Career Center. This collection includes books on the following

Job listings the library receives from a number of local companies is posted on the Job & Career section of the spacious community
information bulletin board located in the front area of the library. In addition, the
JobLINC bus stops by once a month with more job listings and career

Adult Services 
There are programs conducted by community organizations. Periodically, speakers are provided for programs on subjects of interest
for the Vance community. Please check the InfoDATES,
News and Events at Your Memphis Public Libraries for all programming and events. Reservations may be required.

Young Adult Services 
Exchange of Ideas is a teen mentoring program offered on every other Thursday at 3:30 p.m.

Meeting Room 
A meeting room with a seating capacity of up to 60 people is available for use. Call for reservations.

Items for Sale at Check-Out Desk 
The Check-Out Desk at each library has a handy "store" of useful items
for sale

Library tours are offered for all ages. (Call for reservations.) A spacious community information bulletin board
is available for posting events.
