More About Our Service

Anyone can ask a question using this form. However, the Memphis Public Library & Information Center's primary responsibility for reference and bibliographic services is to the residents of our local community. The Library, with its present staff, facilities, and funding, is unable to provide all the reference and bibliographic services requested by customers from outside our service area. We are able to do limited reference service for customers outside the area for $25.00 per hour plus $5.00 shipping and handling of photocopies. We will contact you to make arrangements before beginning the search if we determine that charges are necessary.

Though we are unable to conduct extensive research for you, upon request, we will provide a list of individuals who conduct research for a fee. The work of these individuals is not endorsed by the Memphis Public Library & Information Center. You are advised to ascertain fees and length of time required before hiring a researcher.

We will try to respond to your question as soon as possible. However, some questions may require more than two days. If you need immediate assistance, please call or visit your nearest library.
