Computers
![]()
We have a total of ten computers available for public use, all of which can browse the Internet (websites and e-mail), access our library databases & electronic reference books, and produce your own documents, databases, spreadsheets & presentations using the Microsoft Office software suite (Access, Excel, PowerPoint & Word). All ten computers have these same capabilities but, in order to serve the various needs of our community, we use them in the following ways:
- Nine of the computers are primarily for Internet access. A customer may sign-up to use any one of these for a maximum of one hour per day.
- The remaining computer is set aside for quick use. A customer may sign-up to use this computer for a maximum of 15 minutes per day.
Due to the high demand for our limited number of computers, the Information Desk staff keeps a sign-up list for the computers and uses the following procedure to help insure equal access:
- When customers come into the branch, if the computer they want to use is available, they may sign-up at the Information Desk and begin using it immediately.
- If the computer they want to use is currently occupied by another customer, they may sign-up for any available time slot later that same day.
- A customer may choose to reserve a timeslot later that same day, even if a computer is available when they arrive.
- Reservations can only be made for the same day, and they must be made in person.
See the Internet Use Policy and the Computer Assistance Policy for more information.
