I. TENNESSEE – FEDERAL COURTS

United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit
Tennessee, along with Kentucky, Michigan, and Ohio, make up the geographic jurisdiction of this Federal Court.  Current Sixth Circuit opinions, and opinions going back to 1994, are found here.  Published Opinions issued since January 1, 2000 and unpublished opinions issued since October 1, 2004 appear on The US Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit Opinion Search.  These opinions are searchable by case number, title keyword, date of issue, and opinion number.

United States Bankruptcy Court Western District of Tennessee
Published and unpublished judges’ opinions of the Court filed between 1994 to the present are available here.

United States District Court of Western Tennessee 
Registration is required for access to Court electronic records.  Additional information about the court, including online forms and applications, is found on this site.

United States Supreme Court
The United States Supreme Court website provides the text of Slip Opinions, Term Opinions, and Term In-Chambers Opinions.  In addition, there is a link to the full-text opinions, beginning with volume 502, from the 1991 term of the Supreme Court, of the United States Reports.  Also available are The Rules of the Supreme Court.

Information about major historical Supreme Court cases is found here as well as digital recordings of court proceedings.

FindLaw : Supreme Court Opinions
FindLaw has a searchable database of the Supreme Court Decisions since 1760 through the present.

Supreme Court Collection 
This collection, from the Cornell University School of Law’s Legal Information Institute, has Supreme Court decisions from 1990 to the present.

Links are provided to each circuit of the United States Federal Court system where links to Courts of Appeal, U.S. District, and U.S. Bankruptcy Court home pages are found.  Many of these home pages provide court decisions.

The Federal Court Locator 
This Villanova School of Law site provides links to the home pages of the United States Court of Appeals, to the home pages of U.S. District and U.S. Bankruptcy Courts, and to other federal courts.  Most of these web sites have opinions available online.

Federal Rules – Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts
This site provides access to the national and local rules currently in effect in federal courts and provides additional information about federal rules of practice, procedure and evidence.  Proposed amendments to the rules are posted here for review and comment.
