Classic Movie Showing with a Memphis Twist

Every day is a holiday when you join music by Irving Berlin with vocals by Bing Crosby.

Memphis Public Library customers are invited to the free showing of classic film “Holiday Inn” at 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017 at the Benjamin L. Hooks Central Library (3030 Poplar Ave., room L-56 on the lobby level). Free popcorn will be served (while supplies last)!

“Customers will learn a little Memphis history and get into the holiday spirit,” said program organizer and librarian Scott Lillard. “Some customers may even experience nostalgia having seen the movie as a child.”

A tale with a Memphis connection, “Holiday Inn” will be shown as a part of the Library’s Classic Movies Series, presented by Central Library’s History Department. But Lillard said moviegoers can expect entertainment and a deeper connection to history while viewing these classics.

“This program is a part of our cinematic heritage. Seeing classic films shows us how people saw the world decades ago, and customers get to step back in time while watching these movies,” Lillard concluded.
