memphis RUNOFF ELECTION NOVEMBER 14, 2019
The November 14th election includes runoff elections for Memphis City Council Districts 1 and 7.
The entire city is split into 7 districts, with 1 member per district. The entire city is also divided into 2 super districts (8 and 9), with 3 “at-large” members per super district. Therefore, each citizen votes for 4 City Council members. In total, there are 13 council members (7 regular districts and 3 for each of the 2 super districts).
The 7 single districts require a simple majority to win the election (50%+1). The super districts do not require a simple majority.
