Job seekers can open the doors to a brighter future for themselves and their families Thursday, July 27, 9:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. at the Pipkin Building (940 Early Maxwell Boulevard) during the 2017 JobLINC Career Fair. Whether entry-level, skilled or experts, workers of all levels, ages and industries can take advantage of this chance to meet potential employers face to face, hand out resumes directly to recruiters and network.
“It’s not like applying online,” noted JobLINC Services Manager Robyn Jonston. “You’re actually getting a chance to meet with a person and ask questions like, ‘What do you look for in an employee?’ You have their attention.”
More than 100 hiring companies will participate in this year’s event, and over a thousand job seekers are expected to attend.
“Come dressed for the part,” Jonston advised. “Take a look at the list of companies that will attend, and write down the ones you want to talk to. Bring plenty of resumes and an attitude that you are ready to wow potential employers when you meet them.”
This one-day event is the result of a partnership between Memphis Public Libraries’ JobLINC Career Center, the Workforce Investment Network (WIN), and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) of Memphis.
“We’re going to have everything that you need in one place. It’s a great opportunity for job seekers and employers!” Jonston concluded.
