The Princeton Review’s site for undergraduate study, this site provides resources for current and prospective students. Requires free registration for full access.

The Common Application [7]

The Common Application is a not-for-profit organization that serves students and member institutions by providing an admission application – online and in print – that students may submit to any of approximately 300 member schools.

Distance Learning & Online Degree Programs [8]

Use Peterson’s site to search for online schools and also search by school name, major, location, and other keywords.

Diversity Employers [9]

Career and job site for African American college students. Searches for campus books are available on this site.

The Graduate Memphis College Resource Center offers free, comprehensive support to help adults finish their college degrees. Located on the 1st floor of the Benjamin L. Hooks Central Library.

Apprenticeships

Career Training Base [13]

Find information within Career Training Base on free vocational training.  Training is for different trades and industries.  An individual can train for a new career and receive on the job training while receiving an income.

TVA Electrician Apprentice Program [14]

Apprentices assist journeymen electricians in functions related to constructing, servicing and maintaining TVA substations.  Electrician apprenticeship leads to the position of journeyman electrician.

College Savings Plans Network [23]

A guide to the Section 529 state college savings program, which is designed to make college savings easier for families. Provides information on the plans in all states, with links to related websites.

FAFSA on the Web [24]

The online application for federal student aid. Visitors can also get school codes and find out the status of their online applications. Also available en Español.

FastWeb [25]

Provides an extensive database of national, community, and college-specific scholarships. Access is free, but users must create an online profile which will help to match students to scholarships for which they are eligible.

 

FinAid: The Financial Aid Information Page [26]

A guide to online resources for scholarship and loan information. Although most links guide the user towards FastWeb [25], there are other scholarship search services provided.

Grants for Individuals [27]

The Michigan State Libraries’ Grants for Individuals site indexes grants that are available for the purpose of education, mostly in the form of scholarships or direct financial aid. You may search by academic level (Precollege, Undergraduate, Graduate, or Postdoctorate), population group (Minorities, Veterans, Disabled, etc.) or subject.

Memphis Opportunity Scholarship Trust [28]

Founded in 1998, MOST provides scholarships and tuition assistance for elementary students from underprivileged families.

National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators [29]

The National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA) is an association of over 3,000 colleges, universities, career schools, and others with an interest in the effective administration of student financial aid. The Association does not provide financial aid to students, but serves as a clearinghouse of information and resources for parents, students and counselors.

 

Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation – College Pays [30]

Administers financial aid to assist students in obtaining post-secondary education. Also includes the administration of the Tennessee Lottery Scholarships.

Workforce Investment Network [31]

Provides funding for eligible clients of the Workforce Investment Network, where suitable, to help them become qualified for employment.
