“Amulet” Author Kazu Kibuishi Coming to Library

You’ve read his graphic novel series, but now you can meet the man behind it – Kazu Kibuishi! The renowned comic book author and illustrator is coming to the Benjamin L. Hooks Central Library (3030 Poplar Ave.) for a special meet and greet and book signing from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m., Saturday, March 24, 2018.

Known for his comic anthology “Flight” and web comic “Copper,” Kibuishi is a New York Times bestselling author for his graphic novel series “Amulet.” His work was also selected as one of the 2006 Best Books for Young Adults by the Young Adult Library Services Association.

Kibuishi will hold a Q&A session with artists and enthusiasts. His books will be available for purchase at the event also.

“I learned about his comics in college,” recalled Elliot Boyette, graphic designer for Memphis Public Libraries and the City of Memphis. “He is an excellent storyteller and craftsman in his trade. There is something to be said about someone who can not only write just one successful story, but a successful volume, like Amulet. As an artist, to be able to meet and pick the brain of someone who has been so successful in enthralling stories, it is very valuable for all artists in Memphis. It’s really cool that he’s coming here!”

This event is free and open to the public. For more event information, call (901) 415-2767.
