MEMPHIS READS: D-DAY GIRLS by SARAH ROSE

Marilyn reviews D-DAY GIRLS by Sarah Rose, Crown Publishing, 2019, 384 pages.

This page turner focuses on the role of women participating in the French Resistance movement of World War II. Readers are told about Lise de Baissac, Odette Sansom, Yvonne Rudellat, as well as mnay other members. These were ordinary women who risked their own lives to hopefully free France after the country fell under Hitler’s siege of power. Their normal routines were abandoned once they were trained by the British Special Operations Executive (SOE.) Working among the SOE, espionage was a new challenge to these women. Would the women be capable of fulfilling their missions in the dangerous and  deceitful lands taking over by Hitler?

Readers can also enjoy D-Day Girls as an e-book to find out more about these women and their successes.
