Bartlett JobLINC Featured in Statewide Jobs Study

NerdWallet highlights the program's wide range of resources for job seekers

San Francisco, CA (November 11, 2013) – NerdWallet, a consumer advocacy website, has recognized JobLINC for its commitment to providing resources for those searching for employment in a study that found Bartlett as one of the best places for job seekers in Tennessee.

As many people continue searching for employment in this recovering economy, NerdWallet wanted to help residents of the Volunteer State find the best places for jobs. The study analyzed median household income, monthly homeowner costs, population growth, and unemployment rates.

NerdWallet ranked Bartlett as the best place for job seekers in Tennessee. The City saw a 13.9 percent increase in the working-age population between 2009 and 2011, and residents make a median household income of $75,988, the third highest of the towns in the top 10. Brother USA and Saint Francis Hospital-Bartlett are among the major employers in town, and those looking for new jobs can receive help through community programs such as JobLINC at the Bartlett Branch Library.

JobLINC is part of the Memphis Public Library & Information Center and provides targeted career help and employment outreach for Memphis-area residents. The program provides one-on-one career assistance, interview preparation, job-readiness workshops, and help with finding available jobs and training opportunities.

“JobLINC has been so successful that it’s been recognized by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation as a prime example of targeted employment assistance,” said NerdWallet analyst Annie Wang. “The service not only helps job seekers find employment, it also helps local businesses find the right employees, making it a win-win for the local economy.”
