Library Card & Account Information

Library Card

Residents and property owners of Memphis, Bartlett and unincorporated Shelby County are entitled to a free card.

A printable library card application is available here which you may print, complete, and bring to any library location.  The form is in Adobe Acrobat format.  The free Acrobat reader is available here.

Due Date Reminders / Hold Notices

You can be notified about due dates and possibly holds by one of three ways.

Late Fees and Lost Items

A late fee of $ .10 per day, per book will be assessed for children's materials not returned by the due date, with a maximum of $ 3.00 per book.

A late fee of $ .20 per day, per book will be assessed for adult materials not returned by the due date, with a maximum of $ 5.00 per book.

A late fee of $ 1.00 per day will be assessed for each video/DVD not returned by the due date.

Logging in to Your Account

If you log into your account via our website, you can check the status of your checkouts, fees, and holds.

At the top-right of the page, you will see a place for your Library Card # and PIN.

The library card number is the long digit on the back of your library card.

Once you log in, you can click on "My Account" on the title bar to view your account information.

Payment Options

Cash, money orders and checks are acceptable forms of payment at all library locations.

VISA and Mastercard debit and credit cards can be used at the following library locations:

  • Central Library
  • Cordova
  • East Shelby
  • Whitehaven

 

PIN Information

To check out or renew materials in person, all you need is your library card. However, if you'd like to access your account online or by phone to see what you have checked out, keep up with fees and fines, or renew items, you'll need a Personal Identification Number, or PIN.

Using the Automated Telephone System

The Library’s automated telephone service allows you convenient access to your account at almost any time of the day or night.  You have access regardless of your work or school schedule, or whether the library is open or closed.  Use this service to:
