  • Resource House - Memphis Public Library and Information Center
    The resource database contains information on the community services individuals and communities need to sustain and improve their daily lives. As in a library, information is logically organized according to a standard classification system known as the INFO-LINE Taxonomy. Remember to start by typing in a Zip code or City. If you want to look for a specific organization by name use the Shortcut on the lower left hand side of the page to search for the name of the service provider you want.

  • FirstGov for Consumers - Health
    The FirstGov for Consumers portal "is a 'one-stop' link to a broad range of federal information resources available online. The health section contains information maintained by various federal agencies and organizations on matters concerning aging, diet and weight, disease, drugs, exercise and fitness, medical procedures and more."

  • National Health Information Center
    Directs individuals with general health questions with organizations that can provide answers. Contains database of over 1,100 organizations and government offices.

  • Substance Abuse Treatment Facility Locator
    This searchable directory of drug and alcohol treatment programs will show the location of facilities around the country that treat alcoholism, alcohol abuse and drug abuse problems. The Locator includes more than 11,000 residential treatment centers, inpatient drug treatment and alcohol treatment programs and outpatient treatment programs for drug abuse and addiction and alcoholism. Listings include treatment programs for marijuana, cocaine, and heroin addiction, as well as drug and alcohol treatment programs for teenagers, adolescents, and adults.

  • Health Topics - Methodist LeBonheur Healthcare Healthwise® Knowledgebase
    Healthwise's regularly updated content is founded on evidence-base information. The site presents balanced unbiased perspecives without influence from commercial interests. The Healthwise health information team includes full-time professional medical researchers, writers, and editors who have extensive experience in scientific research and medical writing. They work closely with members of the Healthwise medical team.

  • Family Violence Prevention Fund
    News, resources and information on programs to try to prevent abuse in families.

  • The Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped
    This site provides information on the free library program for Tennessee residents who are not able to use standard print materials due to a visual or physical disability. This site works in cooperation with the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped .

     
  • Wings Cancer Foundation
    Wings is a unique collaboration of people, programs and resources whose mission is to provide services to promote support, research and hope to anyone in the community touched by cancer.

  • Flying Colors
    Offers a variety of support groups for people dealing with cancer. Free and open to all Mid-South cancer survivors and their families.

  • National Eating Disorders Association
    This site has information on various eating disorders and body image concerns as well as information on how to help others who may be at risk or currently dealing with an eating problem. They also have a MD Anderson Cancer Center Support Programs
    Provides various educational resources and access to numerous support groups for cancer patients.

  • The Body

  • Philadelphia FIGHT and Critical Path AIDS Project
    Two self help associations with information and links for those individuals who have acquired AIDS.


  • Gambling Clinic: A Center for Self-Change
    Located at the University of Memphis, the Gambling Clinic provides low-cost, outpatient services for individuals experiencing gambling problems.
