Cyber Security-Coding Camp


Sponsored by Society for Information Management and LeMoyne-Owen College. Memphis Public Libraries is proud to bring a Cyber Security-Coding camp to youth ages 9-12. Youth will work with STEM based professional on basics of coding and learn about various STEM based career opportunities.

Additional Information the LeMoyne Owen Cyber Security Camp

Memphis Public Libraries is proud to partner with Society for Information Management and LeMoyne-Owen College to bring a cyber security and coding camp to our youth ages 9-12. This fun and engaging STEM camp will teach the basics of coding and introduce youth to a variety of STEM based career opportunities. This STEM Camp is curriculum-based and will be instructed by LeMoyne-Owen representatives and the camp is managed by Memphis Public Libraries staff members. This program is free. Lunch will be provided through our partnership with YMCA. All camp staff have been background checked and have extensive experience working with youth from all backgrounds.

Photo and Video Release:

By selecting "yes" you agree that the participant of the camp can be filmed and photographed for grant compliance, and you give the Memphis Public Library & Information Center permission and rights to use the camp participant’s image(s) and / or voice(s) for broadcast on WYPL–TV 18 and WYPL Radio, photographic image, or written submissions in Memphis Public Library’s publications, social media, and displays. This release is made without charge to the Memphis Public Library & Information Center now or in the future, and it entails no obligations, legal or otherwise, on the part of Memphis Public Libraries or its broadcast services.

Camp Guidelines

Guidelines Include:

  1. Students must be signed-in each day that they attend camp.
  2. Students must dress in closed toe shoes and clothes that may get stained or messy
  3. Lunch will be provided. Youth can bring their own food as well as we understand a participant may have other dietary restrictions.
  4. Students will be under the supervision of program coordinators. They will be allowed to leave once an approved parent/guardian has picked them up.
  5. Students will be asked to follow directions, and be courteous and respectful to teachers, assistants and fellow campers.
  6. Students should always get the teacher’s permission before using supplies and equipment.
  7. Students should always pick up after themselves and put away supplies and equipment when they are done with them.
  8. Students should always wait their turn when using supplies and equipment or taking part in activities.
  9. Students should always do their best.
