MEMPHIS READS- I’LL STAND BY YOU by Sharon Sala

Syma reviews I’LL STAND BY YOU by Sharon Sala, Sourcebooks Casablanca, 2015

Wheeeeeeeeeew!

I finally did it; I finished the Blessings series by Sharon Sala, and what a joy they were to read.  If you have ever known anyone whose life has been filled with turmoil and sorrow all the time, please read I’ll Stand by You. The book may give you guidance on assisting the person in need.  This series was worth the time I spent reading it.

Adorable (“Dori”) Grant lived most of her young life with her grandfather, Meeker Webb, because her parents were both killed in a car accident.  As you will come to find out as you read this wonderful story, he is her savior.  When growing up, adults always tell you to put something aside for a rainy day. Well, it must have been storming when Grandpa Webb stared something putting aside for Dori!

Dori learned who her true friends were while she raised her son who was conceived when she was raped.  Never have I read a book that touched me to my core. The story also put me in a place I’ve never been before.  I guess since I read the series backwards, I can now see why the friendship and sisterhood was so important to Ruby Dye and the ladies at Curl Up and Dye Beauty Salon. Dori must have been sent from heaven to take care of a lot of people in this story.

The ending of this beautiful and heart wrenching story tells of how love can be won if we look at one another as human beings instead of game pieces.

I would like to invite everyone who reads my reviews of the Blessings series to take a look at the lives around you and figure out where you might fit into these stories.
