Memphis Local Pride Library Card Contest - Memphis Public Libraries

Beginner, amateur, or professional artist? Doesn’t matter. You can submit your work for consideration in the Memphis Public Library’s Local Pride Library Card Contest. Local contestants will frame their art around the theme of Local Pride and will be judged on visual impact, interpretation, and creativity.

All ages are welcome! A contestant’s work must be created individually and cannot be submitted as a team. Only one entry per person. We reserve the right to reject submissions.

There will be two winners. The winners will have their work displayed on MPL library cards for a year or while card supplies last and will receive a gift card of $500 each!

TIMELINE

The time period for artists to submit their designs is September 1 – October 31. Designs for the library card and key fob should celebrate Memphis Local Pride.

Winners will be announced on a later date.

Art Details

Library Cards Dimensions: 2 1/8″ Height and 3 3/8″ Width (In order to accommodate printers, your design will need to exceed those dimensions to 2 1/2″ Height and 3 6/8″ Width. The edges will be trimmed down to the card dimensions)

Resolution: Images no less than 300 DPI

Agreement 1

My design is originally conceived, created by me, and I hold the copyright.

Agreement 2 (choose which one applies)

The artist is under age 13 and I am the parent/guardian.
I am between the age of 13 and 17 and I have permission from my parent/guardian to submit this.
I am 18 or older.

Agreement 3

If my design is selected, I understand that an agreement will be required exclusively licensing the design to MPL for use on a library card and promotional items in support of this project.

If my art is selected as a finalist, I grant Memphis Public Libraries the right to display my art and name in a virtual and/or in-person gallery of finalist designs.
