JOB TITLE: HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR
DUTIES: Provide excavation, hoisting and moving services by operating
various types of cranes and other heavy equipment.
Drug screening, with negative test results, is required prior to entry
into this classification. Must have successfully completed approved
Heavy Equipment Operator Apprenticeship program or equivalent
experience and training. Must successfully complete Physical
Abilities Test. Must successfully complete Color Blind I test. Must
meet state vision requirements. Must successfully obtain OSHA
Crane Certification within one year after entering classification.
Must obtain a valid Class A Commercial driver’s license with
Tanker and Hazardous Material Endorsement (X) from state of
residence within trial or probationary period after entering
classification. Must successfully complete NIMS training within
one (1) year of entering job. Must successfully complete Placement
(Group 012A “Equipment Operators”)/Performance Exercises. Must
have a valid driver’s license from state of residence.
Works outside with exposure to noise, mud, dust and fumes; subject
to the hazards of rigging and operating heavy equipment and
working around energized equipment, performing heavy lifting and
climbing on/off equipment. Subject to storm or emergency work.

JOB TITLE: ENERGY TECHNICIAN
Duties: Inspect new/existing residential structures and make
recommendations to residential customers, home builders,
property owners/managers concerning methods, techniques
or technologies to conserve energy; perform inspections of
residential and multi-family rental units in order to insure
compliance with the Rental Ordinance Section of the
Memphis Housing Code; and investigate high electric, gas
and/or water bill complaints.
Associate degree. Must have 2 years of construction or
residential energy management experience. Must receive
Home Energy Rating System (HERS) certification within 6
months of first taking the exam. Must have a valid driver’s
license from state of residence.
Works inside and outside under good conditions. May be subject to construction
hazards. Climbing, crawling, crouching and kneeling required. Subject to
medium lifting.

JOB TITLE: SURVEYOR ASSISTANT
Duties: Provide assistance in locating points, elevations, angles and measuring
distances using electronic equipment, survey rods, chains and other
surveying apparatus.
Drug screening, with negative test results, is required prior to entry into this
classification. Must successfully complete Placement (Group 006 “General
Utility & Custodial Workers”)/Performance Exercises. Must successfully
complete NIMS training within one year of entering job. Must have a valid
driver’s license from state of residence.
Works outside majority of time. Subject to the hazards of insect or snake
bite/working in rough terrain, medium lifting, standing and walking for
long periods of time.

JOB TITLE: INSTRUMENT TECHNICIAN
Duties: Calibrate, troubleshoot and maintain all electronic, electromechanical and
mechanical equipment and instruments.
Associate degree in Electronics Technology or related degree. Must be able
to distinguish colors. Must successfully complete NIMS Training within one
year of entering job. Must have knowledge/skills in instrumentation, PLC
Logic, Logic Controllers local area network communications and associated
software. Must successfully complete Placement (Group 004 “Electronics
Technicians”)/Performance exercises. Must have successfully completed
Physical Abilities Test (CGS III). Must pass an annual physical examination
as required by Department of Transportation. Must have a valid driver’s
license from state of residence.
Works inside and outside under all conditions. Subject to hazards of weather,
high voltage electrical apparatus, rotating machinery, high pressure steam,
vessels and piping operating at cryogenic temperatures or carrying
flammable fluids and gases, fire and/or explosion and climbing to heights up
to 150 feet with equipment, stooping, bending, standing for long periods,
kneeling, lifting, pushing, pulling, crawling and gripping.

JOB TITLE: SECURITY DISPATCHER

Duties: Dispatch Security Officers or service agencies, as appropriate and monitor radios,
alarms, and outside cameras via the CCTV system during their assigned shift.
High school diploma or General Education Development (G.E.D.) and two (2) years
security dispatch experience. Must successfully complete appropriate NERC
Certification Exam within 6 months of entering job. Must successfully complete
NIMS Training within one year of entering job. Must have a valid driver’s license
from state of residence.
Work in an office environment. Subject to sitting for long periods, but may involve
walking or standing for brief periods of time. Requires continual use of computer
keyboard, monitors, radios, and other peripheral devices. May be required to make
spontaneous decisions.

JOB TITLE: SURVEY EXPEDITER
Duties: Schedule, coordinate and expedite utility surveys; download, process, edit
and resolve survey discrepancies and maintain area records.
Must have successfully completed two college level courses in surveying
principals and advance surveying. Must have knowledge and skills in
computer aided software applications and layout task/reading prints and
technical instruction manuals. Must successfully complete Placement
(Group 01B “Drafters”)/Performance Exercises. Must have a valid driver’s
license from state of residence.
Works majority of time outside. Subject to hazards of weather, snake bites,
poison ivy and working in proximity of construction work, moving traffic,
walking/standing for long periods of time, bending, crouching/stooping,
climbing fences, hills, ditches and wire bridges and may perform heavy
and/or light lifting of survey equipment.
