Ahoy, mateys! Set sail for ye olde World Wide Web, ‘cuz this year our annual Pirates Raid, celebrating International Talk Like a Pirate Day, will be goin’ virtual!
You can also join us at Benjamin L. Hooks Central Library to celebrate International Talk Like a Pirate Day! A pirate always needs to gear up before plundering. MPL encourages all attendees to please mask up while you enjoy the fun!
Our buccaneering staff have planned a galleon-full of fun, educational and informative programming for this week-long event. Live and prerecorded online activities will include a virtual escape room, story times, crafts lessons, dance performances and instruction, book club discussions, swashbuckling pirate fights, and even a trivia contest, among others. #PiratesRaid2022

We have craft kits for the videos listed below with an asterisk. Kits are limited. You can pick up craft kits, while supplies last, at Central Children’s (for kids), Central Humanities (for tween/teen), and Bartlett Branches. You can also get kits at the River Garden Park on Sept 19, between 1-4pm, while supplies last.
Library Card Signup/Renewal Treasures
Visit the Benjamin L. Hooks Central library anytime the on September 18th to receive some pirate treasure when you either (a) sign-up for a library card; or (b) check your library card’s expiration.
