AutoZone Summer STEM Camp 2021
Thank You for your interest in the AutoZone 2021 Summer STEM Camps! The AutoZone STEM camp is an interactive camp opportunity open to teens ages 12-17. Presented by a collaborative partnership between Memphis Public Libraries, The University of Memphis and AutoZone, campers will apply STEM skills to real-world challenges. The camps will be online opportunities for teens to engage in a project-based learning STEM experience with their peers. Teens accepted into the camp will receive an email including instructions for joining the virtual camp and materials needed.
The camps will be offered in July 2021. Camp 1 is a week-long camp from July 12th-16th. Campers will meet Monday to Friday each day from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Due to social distancing regulations, camps will be conducted remotely. Campers may pick up camp materials from the Benjamin L. Hooks Central Library (1st Floor) to complete project components from home if they do not have the basic materials needed. Campers will engage in a 2 hour live video session to receive instruction, ask questions, and interact with their peers.
Campers will meet Monday- Friday from 10:00 am-12:00 pm each week via Microsoft Teams virtual meetings. At the conclusion of each camp, parents and sponsors will have the opportunity to see what campers have completed as culminating projects! We are accepting applications for the AutoZone STEM Camps through June 1, 2021. A limited number of opportunities will be awarded to applicants after review of applications. Forward any questions to firstname.lastname@example.org using the subject: AutoZone Camp
Despite this new format, we are dedicated to providing a safe, fun, interactive space for our teens. Campers who do not respect the integrity of the virtual classroom will be unable to continue with the camp session. We ask that teens review the expectations listed below thoroughly.
During our Camp Virtual Classroom please avoid:
- Foul language or inappropriate remarks
- Sharing inappropriate media
- Being intentionally disruptive
- Inappropriate dress (please abide by typical school dress codes during our meetings)
- Leaving the camera’s line of site to engage in other activities while the class is in session
Each participating camper will be required to activate his/her Video Camera for the entire session in every Virtual Session. Campers will receive a link to join the session before each meeting via the email the camper provides below.
IT IS IMPORTANT THAT TEENS CHECK THEIR EMAIL DAILY. Email will be the primary source of communication outside of class for updates and important links, so make sure the email provided is active and frequently used.
This camp is for ages 12-17.
