Position Title: Engineering Equipment Operator Leader
Series/Grade: XG-5716-11
Full Performance Level: XG-11
Duty Location: Official Duty Station is the Ensley Engineer Yard, position requires TDY travel
and mandatory overtime.
Hourly Salary Range: $30.14 – $35.19
Work Schedule: Full-Time
Appointment Type: Permanent
Travel Requirement: Temporary Duty Travel is over 50% of the time

Responsibilities/Duties: Incumbent serves as Engineering Equipment Operator Leader serving
as working leader of (4-30) employees in accomplishing trades and labor
work. Passes on to other workers instructions received from supervisor, and starts work
(e.g., by assigning the immediate tasks to be performed by individual members of the
group led). Works along with other workers, setting the pace. May serve as a relief Crane
Operator. Operates heavy engineering and construction equipment. Operates a motor patrol
grader to construct roadways and ditches. Operates a bulldozer in finish grading upper banks
and slopes; removing stumps and debris; clearing right of ways and trees; using winch
attachments and cables; constructing drainage ditches for upper and over bank protection;
preparation and construction of boat ramps and to construct roadways. Operates front-end
loader to load material. Work is performed on flat to rolling terrain, on steep banks and hills,
and near drop-offs. Operates to grade stakes set by surveyors and engineers in grading; cutting
crown, front and back slopes on drainage ditches; debris removal; and similar fine grade.
Performs operator maintenance and completes operating reports.

Schedule: During the Revetment season, typically June through December, all Revetment
employees, including this position, travel in various locations along the Mississippi River. The
employees work 12 workdays on & have 2 days off. Employees will be on TDY & will lodge in
hotels within the vicinity of the work area. During the work season this position works typically
a 10-hour shift. During the non-Revetment season, the crew works at Ensley Engineer Yard,
Memphis, TN, on either a 5-day/8-hour or 4-day/10-hr. Can be assigned to work on Hired Labor
projects.

Qualifications Requirements: Qualified by a USACE qualifying official on Link Belt Crawler type
crane with 100-ton rating capacity OR possess a crane certification from an accredited crane
certification agency with large designation in the practical exam and Lattice Boom Crawler
designation for the written exam.
