Underwriter (Remote)– 

This position is open to CONUS and is 100% remote. The starting salary is +/- $58K DOE and location. 


Under moderate supervision, the Agency Underwriter provides technical underwriting and general business support for assigned agencies via phone and email. The Underwriter is responsible for decisions impacting $10 million of premium handling over 8,000 phone calls, emails, and transactions per year. On referred policies (quotes, new business, changes, inspections, or renewals), the Underwriter applies risk development & analysis to determine, accept or decline underwriting decisions. They will properly & efficiently execute decisions along with communicating and explaining decisions to agents and customers. This position will ensure turnaround time (TAT) goals and underwriting legal dates are met. This position does not manage others.

Training is provided and typically lasts around 6 months in the Agency Underwriter position. During Training, the hours are 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. EST. Following training, the required hours for this position are either 10:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. OR 11:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. Local Time (based on candidate location). 

Minimum Qualifications 

  • HighSchool diploma or equivalent. 
  • Minimum1 year of Insurance experience. (This can be from working in the insurance industry in some capacity, such as in a call center, operations, agent, claims, etc.) 
  • Pleasemake sure your resume clearly shows your insurance industry experience. 

Education, Work Experience, & Knowledge 

  • Collegedegree preferred. 
  • 1+ year of Property Casualty Insurance experience preferred.
  • Basicknowledge and ability to explain Travelers UW philosophy. 
  • Basicunderstanding of regulatory and compliance laws.

Premium Audit Customer Service Associate (Remote):- 

This is a 100% virtual position, open to all 50 states. Candidates must be willing to work the following hours: 10:40AM ET – 7:10PM ET 

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Communicates with insureds and agents on less complex questions regarding policyholder report completion and premiums developed at audit. 
  • Explains routine audit results and terminology on vouchers for commercial lines insurance policies. 
  • Researches and identifies problems and disputes raised by insureds or agents by using image file, Workers Compensation, General Liability, and Classification manuals. 
  • Documents insured concerns and all subsequent action taken by the department. 
  • Resolves issues and responds in a timely manner to questions from agents and internal/external customers. 
  • Analyzes incoming calls/emails to determine if audit is correct, if revision is needed or if account should be referred to a resolution specialist. 
  • Communicates with Audit Managers when information is received from insured concerning physical audit. 
  • Assists Accounting and Marketing offices with referrals regarding audit information or procedures. 
  • Maintain current working knowledge of basic rules, regulations and classification procedures applicable to premium determination. 
  • Maintains a working knowledge of state regulatory auditing requirements. 
  • Maintains a working knowledge of Commercial Line insurance and Premium Audit procedures. 

Minimum Qualifications 

  • High School diploma required. 
  • One year work experience in a customer service role. 

Education, Work Experience, & Knowledge 

  • One or more years exposure to call center or insurance/premium audit work experience is preferred. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. 
  • Strong analytical and reasoning skills are preferred. 
  • Good Microsoft Office skills preferred. 
  • Clearly expresses ideas, recommendations, etc. verbally and in writing preferred. 

Additional Information 

  • The salary range in Colorado for this position is $35,500 to $53,300.
