Ancestry Library is available to anyone using a public computer or public wifi at any of our Memphis Public Libraries.

Limited Access Outside of the Library

The State of Tennessee provides limited access to Tennessee records available on Ancestry.com. You must create a free ancestry account first.

How do I sign up for a free account?

  1. If this is your first time using the Tennessee Records collection, start your search.
  2. On the results page,  you will see a Sign In > option in the top right corner. Click on Sign In.
  3. You will need to sign up for the FREE account. Select the Sign up for free link at the bottom of the screen.  

It keeps encouraging me to subscribe? Do I have to?

You only have free access to the Tennessee collections listed above so if your search takes you beyond those records, Ancestry will only show you the results if you subscribe.
