Teen Innovation Centers

Teen Innovation Centers

Many Memphis Public Libraries have Teen Innovation Centers. These are creative spaces for teens to engage, collaborate and explore with each other through STEAM technology, literacy-based programming, and networking.

We have Teen Innovation Centers at these locations:

  • Bartlett Library
  • Cordova Library
  • East Shelby Library
  • Gaston Park Library
  • Hollywood Library
  • North Library
  • Officer Geoffrey Redd Library
  • South Library
  • Whitehaven Library

This project is needed to:

  • Expose teens to STEAM technology and opportunities.
  • Provide teens with an option for improving technical skills and literacy skills
  • Fulfill the technological, literacy, and creative needs in Memphis
  • Help give teens a creative outlet
  • Help give teens a voice regarding their own future.
  • Decrease the poverty level in the city among the opportunity youth sub-group.

The project is also aligned with the goals of the City of Memphis to utilize the library as a means to offset poverty, and educational deficiencies, and reduce crime.
