The Memphis Room and DIG Memphis are pleased to announce a new in person program series Memphis on Film, showcasing over a century of our hometown as captured by the camera lens.
Whether home movies or professional Hollywood level productions, we will be showing rare footage of Memphis from the past hundred years, much of which has only been recently digitized.
Starting at 6:30pm on June 11th, the series will continue every two weeks. Also included in each program will be sneak peeks of the upcoming API Carrier collection.
Consisting of thousands of tapes and film reels donated by Bill and Tess Carrier, attendees will get a unique preview of some of the recently unearthed gems the collection has to offer. Some of the highlights include commercials for and footage of major local attractions that are no longer around such as Libertyland, Adventure River, the Mid-South Fair, the Cotton Carnival and many more.
Beyond the initial program on June 11, further programs will be on Thursday at 6:30pm on June 25, July 9, and July 23.
