Photojournalist / News Videographer

Full-Time | Memphis, TN

WMC is seeking a creative and motivated visual storyteller to join its team of photojournalists. This role focuses on shooting and editing high-quality video for daily news stories, live broadcasts, and digital platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Shoot and edit compelling video under tight deadlines

  • Operate broadcast cameras, lighting, and audio equipment

  • Collaborate with reporters, producers, and assignment editors

  • Cover breaking news, features, and live events

  • Maintain equipment and follow safety and station policies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 years of television newsroom experience

  • Strong ENG shooting and non-linear editing skills

  • Knowledge of video composition, lighting, and audio

  • Familiarity with live streaming and remote broadcast technology

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. of equipment

  • FAA Part 107 Drone License is a plus

  • Journalism or communications background preferred

Newscast Director / Technical Media Producer

Full-Time | Memphis, TN

This is a hybrid production role combining live newscast directing with technical media production and master control responsibilities. The position is ideal for candidates with production experience or those seeking entry into broadcast operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct live and recorded newscasts

  • Operate Ross OverDrive automation systems

  • Perform master control duties, including commercial playback and FCC compliance

  • Operate production equipment including graphics systems, audio boards, robotic cameras, and prompters

  • Work within the newsroom computer system (ENPS)

  • Monitor and maintain on-air broadcast quality

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, film, mass communication, or related field preferred

  • 2 years of experience in journalism, media production, or related fields preferred

  • Strong organizational and communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple technical tasks in a live environment


Weekend News Anchor / Reporter

Full-Time | Memphis, TN

WMC Action News 5 is looking for an experienced anchor/reporter to work weekend morning newscasts and report during the week. This role requires strong on-air delivery, solid writing, and the ability to cover breaking news across platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Anchor live weekend morning newscasts

  • Report and produce news packages for broadcast and digital platforms

  • Cover breaking news with confident, unscripted delivery

  • Develop community sources and enterprise stories

  • Contribute to content across linear, streaming, and social platforms

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of on-air experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or related field

  • Strong writing and editing skills with AP Style knowledge

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet daily deadlines

  • Familiarity with basic video editing tools, Canva, and social media platforms preferred
