New Leadership Opportunities at Ballet Memphis


Ballet Memphis is currently hiring for two senior leadership positions that play a critical role in advancing one of Memphis’s most respected arts organizations. These full-time opportunities are ideal for experienced professionals who are passionate about nonprofit leadership, financial sustainability, fundraising, and the arts.

Founded in 1986, Ballet Memphis works to celebrate the universality of the human experience through dance while reflecting the diversity and cultural richness of our community. Today, the organization operates across four core areas: a professional dance company, a ballet school and youth ensemble, Pilates and wellness programs, and community impact initiatives.

Open Positions

Director of Finance & Administration

This role provides strategic financial leadership and oversees key administrative operations. The Director of Finance & Administration works closely with the Executive Director, Senior Leadership Team, and Board of Directors to ensure long-term financial sustainability and operational effectiveness.

Key focus areas include:

  • Budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning

  • Cash flow management and financial reporting

  • Audit oversight and regulatory compliance

  • Oversight of HR, IT systems, payroll vendors, and procurement

  • Collaboration with leadership and Board committees on financial strategy

Ideal candidates will have:

  • A bachelor’s degree (finance or accounting preferred)

  • 5+ years of senior-level finance or accounting experience

  • Experience with nonprofit or arts organizations preferred

  • Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills


Director of Development

The Director of Development leads fundraising strategy and donor engagement efforts to support Ballet Memphis’ programs and long-term growth. This role works closely with the Executive Director and serves on the Senior Leadership Team.

Key focus areas include:

  • Major gifts, annual fund, grants, sponsorships, and special events

  • Donor cultivation and relationship management

  • Fundraising budgets, projections, and reporting

  • Board support and engagement

  • Collaboration with marketing to grow patron loyalty and revenue

Ideal candidates will have:

  • A bachelor’s degree

  • 5+ years of nonprofit fundraising experience

  • Strong writing, communication, and relationship-building skills

  • Experience with donor or patron database systems

  • A passion for the arts and community impact
