Now Hiring: Graphic Design Teaching Artist (Part-Time, Contract)


AngelStreet is seeking a Graphic Design Teaching Artist to lead a weekly, hands-on design class for girls enrolled in AngelStreet programming. This contract-based role is ideal for a creative professional who is passionate about youth development, self-expression, and using art as a tool for confidence and real-world skill building.

The Teaching Artist will guide students through foundational graphic design concepts while fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment. Classes are designed to be interactive, creative, and aligned with AngelStreet’s mission of serving girls in under-resourced communities.

What You’ll Do

  • Plan and facilitate a weekly 2-hour graphic design class for girls

  • Teach core design concepts such as layout, color, typography, and visual storytelling

  • Guide students through individual and group creative projects

  • Help students connect graphic design skills to real-world applications like branding, music, merchandise, and social media

  • Create a positive, age-appropriate, and encouraging learning environment

  • Collaborate with AngelStreet staff on lesson planning, attendance, and student engagement

  • Participate in brief program check-ins as needed

  • Maintain attendance records and provide light feedback on student participation

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience as a graphic designer (professional or freelance)

  • Proficiency with tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar platforms

  • Experience working with youth preferred (teaching, mentoring, coaching, or facilitation)

  • Strong ability to explain creative concepts in a clear and engaging way

  • Reliable, organized, and able to commit to the full 8–12 week program

  • Alignment with AngelStreet’s mission and a commitment to serving girls in under-resourced communities

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Additional Details

  • Part-time, independent contractor position

  • Pay: $215 per week

  • Schedule: After-school hours, 4:00–6:00 PM

  • Preparation time outside of class is expected and included in the weekly rate

  • May require occasional lifting (10–25 lbs) and driving

  • Strong preference for candidates with a youth development or recreation background
