- Requirements: Authors should stay at their tables until the event concludes at 3:00 p.m.
What will each author’s table include?
Authors will be provided with:
- A table with a white plastic tablecloth (you are welcome to bring your own tablecloth to decorate,) two chairs, and a colorful balloon
- A book stand for displaying books
- A stand displaying the author’s profile, bio, and book synopsis, based on the information submitted during registration (please leave the plastic stand when you leave so that we can use them for future events)
- Coffee, snacks, and one $15 meal ticket for the food truck
Are the tables a standard size?
The tables at Bookstock vary in size (the majority of them are 6×4 ft). We cannot guarantee specific dimensions. Authors should plan flexible displays that can accommodate different table sizes.
What if I have accessibility or electricity needs?
If you have any accessibility or electricity needs or require an accessible table or a table that is close to an electrical outlet, please let us know as soon as possible so we can arrange accommodations. We will do our best to meet any special requirements.
Where can authors get help on the day of the event?
An Author Check-In Table and Help Desk will be located on the Lobby Level to assist with questions, provide supplies such as book stands and plastic sign holders, and guide authors on submitting their books for consideration to be added to our collection.
How can authors get their books added to the library’s collection?
Please note that participation in Bookstock does not guarantee that your book will be added to our collection. Authors interested in having their books considered for circulation should inquire at the Author Check-In Table and Help Desk for submission guidelines. To be considered, you would need to donate a copy of your book to the Collection Development department. It will go through the library’s standard vetting process. Upon making a decision, a Collection Development librarian will contact you with a decision.
If the book is selected, the donated copy will be added to the collection. Additionally, if the budget allows and your book is available through one of our vendors (Ingram or Baker & Taylor), additional copies may be purchased. If it is not selected for the collection, the book will be returned to you or donated to the Friends of the Library. Please email Monique Williams, Collection Development Manager, at monique.williams1@memphistn.gov for more information.
What should I do if I need to cancel?
If you need to cancel, please notify us as soon as possible so we can offer your spot to another author on the waitlist. Email Alexandra Farmer at alexandra.farmer@memphistn.gov to cancel. If you cannot stay for the full duration of 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., please relinquish your spot to someone who can.
