CLOUD901 is a state-of-the-art Teen Learning Lab, complete with video and audio production labs, editing and mixing stations, formal and informal learning areas, digital and analog displays, a performance area, a Maker Space, brainstorming, homework, and collaboration zones and much more. CLOUD901 is absolutely free and open only to teens, ages 13-18.

What happens in CLOUD901?
Magic! Teens can make and edit video and audio, perform, create, art, or just think and brainstorm. Teens will have the option to learn through digital media, self-guided learning, expert-led workshops ranging from ACT Prep to Coding Video Games, work on projects with other students, and spend time learning from mentors and volunteers.

Is there a class schedule for CLOUD901?

Can I bring food or drink with me to CLOUD901?
Yes! Unlike other areas of the library where food is prohibited, teens may bring food and drink to consume in the Play Café area of the lab. There will not, however, be food or drinks for sale in the lab, and teens are expected to clean up after themselves and keep food/drinks away from equipment.

What types of things can you do in CLOUD901?

What is a 3D printer?
3D Printing, also called additive manufacturing, is a process of making three dimensional, solid objects from a digital file. Traditional printers also convert digital files into something tangible (words printed on a page), but 3D printers add an additional dimension: up. A 3D printer creates objects by laying down successive layers of material, each of which is a horizontal cross-section of the final object.

Do I have to pay for access to the equipment in CLOUD901?
No, all of the equipment in CLOUD901 is free to use, however due to the likelihood of high-demand equipment, reserving a spot in advance may be required. To reserve equipment, teens should check the online calendar and/or with staff in the CLOUD901 check in area.

Can I use the equipment if I have library fines?
Yes, CLOUD901 is a space of its own and teens are not penalized for activity elsewhere, however teens are expected to take care of all responsibilities when checking out anything at the Memphis Library.

Can I tour CLOUD901 with my parents?
Yes, parents are welcome to tour CLOUD901, however only those who are ages 13-18 may stay in CLOUD901.  Please see our Tours page for more information.
