BankWork$ helps young adults from under-resourced communities build meaningful careers in banking, through a free, eight-week career training, placement assistance, and ongoing coaching. During the eight-week program, young adults learn the industry-specific skills of banking, including cash-handling, fraud detection, and regulations, and the communication and people skills that will serve them in any professional setting, including relationship building and problem solving. They practice speaking in front of a group, interviewing successfully, and giving and receiving constructive feedback. They are also guided to identify and apply transferable customer-facing skills from past employment to future careers.
At graduation, each graduate is invited to interview for open positions with local industry partners. They receive far more personal attention than they might during a standard job fair or online application process. They graduate prepared for their first day on the job, with the confidence they can and will succeed, and are supported through mentorship as they grow in their new career.
